The management of the UNESCO Site – Historic Center of Naples is entrusted to the Municipality of Naples, which coordinates the activities of protection, enhancement, and promotion of the heritage recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The UNESCO Office of the Municipality of Naples works in synergy with the various municipal departments, the Superintendency and other local authorities to ensure the integrated and sustainable management of the site.

Responsibilities
Coordination and support for UNESCO policies, ensuring relations with the Italian National Commission for UNESCO, participation in applications and preparation of dossiers, monitoring and implementation of the Management Plan for the UNESCO site “Historic Center of Naples,” liaison with municipal services and external entities, and implementation of initiatives for the restoration and enhancement of heritage, including through public-private partnerships;

Responsibilities
Planning, coordination, and implementation of measures for the protection, restoration, recovery, and enhancement of the Historic Center of Naples – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – with reference to both the valuable architectural and monumental heritage and the urban archaeological heritage; implementation of pilot projects and the plan for widespread urban archaeology; relations with the Superintendence; participation in the management plans and programs of the UNESCO site and implementation of the structural interventions provided for in the Management Plan, in synergy with the International Projects and UNESCO Service; definition of guidelines for the protection of the archaeological, architectural, and monumental heritage and public spaces; liaison with the departments, municipalities, and competent bodies.
