Fontana del carciofo

Fontana del carciofo

Piazza Trieste e Trento

Inaugurated in 1956 based on a design by engineers Carlo Comite, Mario Massari, and Fedele Nucci, the fountain is set in the monumental heart of Naples. Characterized by a large circular stone basin, it features a structure of overlapping chalices at its center. The top element, a stylized floral composition resembling an artichoke, gives the monument its popular name, which has become an icon of the urban landscape and post-WWII modernity.
