San Filippo Neri

San Filippo Neri

The Congregation of the Oratorians, known as the Girolamini, was introduced in Naples in 1586, soon after Rome. The three-nave church with granite columns and side chapels, dedicated to the Nativity of Mary and All Saints, was begun in 1592 by Giovanni Antonio Dosio and completed in 1619 by another Florentine Dionisio Nencioni di Bartolomeo. The facade, originally by Neapolitan Dionisio Lazzari (post-1655), was redone in 1780 by Ferdinando Fuga with the addition of bell towers, preserving the original first order.
