The church, built at the beginning of the 14th century, is dedicated to Peter of Morrone, a hermit on the Maiella who became Pope Celestine V and was canonized in 1313. It was expanded between 1493 and 1508 with the forward movement of the facade, originally aligned with the bell tower, and then altered several times until the restoration from 1888 to 1927, which stripped it of its decora- tions. Inside: a beautiful wooden ceiling adorned with paintings by the Caravaggist Mattia Preti (1657-59). Since 1826, the convent has housed the conservatory, and since 1925, it also hosts the Historical Musical Museum.
