In 844, the first chapel was dedicated to St. Mary at Selice, which was damaged in 1448, and later granted to the city and dedicated to the secondary patron. The church was rebuilt by Giovan Giacomo Di Conforto (1575-1604), and in 1587, Palazzo Como was acquired and converted into a convent. The building was altered with the widening of Via Duomo (1860), when three bays were removed and the facade was redesigned in a Neo-Renaissance style. Previously an air-raid shelter, it is now owned by the municipality and reopened in 1999, designated for exhibitions and cultural events.
