The church, known as Pietatella, was built in 1383 to reconsecrate the tournament grounds near the city moat. Inside, it houses a Pietà (c. 1340–1345). In 1542, the complex was handed over to the Royal House of the Annunziata, which suppressed the hospital, relocated the congregation, and caused its abandonment. In the 17th century, the church was given to the Congregation of the Nativity of the Servants, who reopened it with a new layout. Around 1864, the side chapels were converted into shops or residences, and the single-nave interior was decorated in an eclectic style.
